Greetings from the grassy side of the rink! We’ve got a lot of fun things going on at MVP this week. For those interested in coming out and watching some great soccer we have leagues on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We also have flag football on Wednesday and Friday. If you want to get involved in playing in a league feel free to stop by and talk with us. We have leagues for the most elite or the most novice players.
We finished the second weekend of paintball and it was again a lot of fun. People love the fact that our paintball is about half the cost of traditional outdoor paintball. Stop by Saturday or Sunday from 1:30pm-10:30pm to try a game. Mention the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex blog and we will give you a FREE game!
As always if you have any questions or comments please feel free to let us know!

2009 Nationals!
The best ever! First of all we had the most competitors that we have ever had from Ellenton.
Haven Denney and Daniel Raad competed in the Novice Pairs event. They had only been paired together for less than 7 months and they skated to a silver medal. Placing 2nd in the short program, they could no overcome the first place team even though they won the long program.
Tracy Tanovich and Michael Chau were competing in the Junior Pairs event and were entering the competition as the favorites, as they were 2nd last year. Even though they had a major slip on one of the elements, they were clearly the class of the field. They placed 3rd in the short program, only 1.5 points behind the leaders. Friday night, they were determined to show that they were the best in the country, and that they were, performing like they have never done before. The audience was standing on their feet before they finished. They knew they had just witnessed the Junior Champions! They were the only pair in their event to get a standing ovation.
Amanda Evora and Mark Ladwig, the veterans, skated very well with a well balanced mature program, but had a slight bobble on the side by side jump and found themselves in 6th place after the short program.
Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett skated right after Amanda and Mark and skated a program of their life! Every element was executed one at a time, just like clockwork. Before they knew it, the marks came up and they found themselves in the lead with only two pairs left.
Saturday came and the hunt was on. Our teams were focused and hungry. Amanda and Mark were the first of the two to skate. They knew what they had to do to move on to the podium. With 5 strong teams ahead, the performance of their year was necessary. And they did not disapoint. Element for element, they have the strongest and most difficult lifts in the competition. Five teams skated between Amanda and Mark and Caydee and Jeremy, who skated last of the 19 teams, so they had to sit and wait...
Just as they had done in the short program, Caydee and Jeremy executed the program one element at a time without fault. For them, it was just another clean program. Their strong lifts and power throws made the audience rise to their feet once again! The only other program that got a standing ovation in the Senior Pairs was once again from Ellenton, Amanda and Mark.
In fact, there were 3 standing ovations in the pairs events and all 3 came from Ellenton, Florida!
Congratulations to all. We are all so proud of you!

Greetings from the 2009 AT&T US Nationals!
As you may know, we have four pairs of skaters and one individual skater competing for a chance to be champions.
Just a little note to let you know how things are going:
Page Lawerance and Rudi Sweigers competed in Saskatoon at the Canadian Championships and were 4th. Having done this, they are on the National Team and have qualified for the World Junior Championships in Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
Now on to Cleveland at the US National Championships.
Yesterday, Haven Denney & Daniel Raad placed 2nd in he Novice Pairs Short Program with 35.73 points, only 3.5 points out of 1st place. Their long program is this afternoon. Good luck to them!
Tracy Tanovich & Michael Chau have also been practicing hard in the Junior Pair event and Michael is doing double duty in the Junior Mens event. Their first competition is on Wednesday.
Our Senior teams of Caydee Denney & Jeremy Barrett and Amanda Evora & Mark Ladwig arrived late last night and will begin practicing today.
Weather has been a bit of an issue. Cleveland has had record snow and record cold this year. Travel back and forth to the practice rink is close to an hour, so this makes days very long.
Well, that is all from teh AT&T US Nationals in Cleveland.

Hello From General Manager Tom Lindemuth!
Good Afternoon from Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex!
First of all, I would like to welcome you to Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex. Here, we have such a vast array of things-to-do and I'm sure we'll have something for family members of all ages. If you haven't been to Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex in the past year, let me get you caught up.
We've added indoor soccer in our 13,000 square foot, state-of-the-art arena. The arena is also home to our brand new addition, re-ball. Re-ball is a paintless form of paintball that keeps your clothes clean and keeps your pockets full. Kids can also now enjoy our new state-of-the-art arcade and bouncy fun centers, which features all-play video simulators, as well as three giant inflatables.
I am also pleased to welcome our new neighbor Ellenton Suds Sports Grill. Suds has over 20 HD TV's for your viewing pleasure. Not to mention great food.
I am happy to say we're getting brand new, state-of-the-art equipment in our fitness center in early February. Memberships start as low as $29.99 a month.
I would like to thank the Manatee County Bloodmobile for stopping in on Saturday and the USF Ice Bulls for sponsoring the 2nd Annual Maddi Goss and Friends Pediatric Cancer Awareness Tournament. Both proved to be a great success and congratulations to our tournament winner, the Robert Morris University Colonials.
Just in case you didn't know where we are located, I've included a map:
I hope to see you on the ice!
